REBELLION reflects a desire to break away from the rigid expectations of masculinity. Growing up in environments that discouraged softness and emphasized toughness, I often felt pressured to suppress traits seen as effeminate.
The harness, once rooted in queer sexual expression and now part of broader culture, becomes a way for me to reclaim and inhabit my own sexuality. In the work, I pair the harness with a lock of my own cut hair, a small gesture of refusal and self-definition. It marks a return to the softer parts of myself that were once denied.
